DAVID BOWIE: FINDING FAME

BBC TWO / BBC STUDIOS / BDH

Working with BDH, we had the privilege to work on the opening sequence for Francis Whately's third feature-length Bowie documentary, charting how David Robert Jones became David Bowie and Ziggy Stardust.

Using incredible 50s/60s/70s photographs and footage sourced by the BBC Studios team, we were able to created a mixed-media montage covering Bowie's early years, all told in his own words via archived interviews.

Using this contact sheet from 1947 we were able to sequence the stills to create the earliest known moving pictures of David Bowie.

“I THINK THERE’S A LOT OF SEARCHING TO FIND THE INDIVIDUAL WITHIN ONESELF.”

"MY PARENTS WERE COLD EMOTIONALLY, THERE WEREN’T MANY HUGS… I ALWAYS SORT OF CRAVED AFFECTION BECAUSE OF THAT."
